  • description: Hennessey has released an all-new Koenigsegg competitor - the Blackbird! Explore new and used car deals with Carwow: https://bit.ly/Change-Your-Car-0308 The Blackbird follows on from Hennessey’s first two hypercars, the Venom GT & Venom F5, and it’s been inspired by the legendary SR-71 Blackbird aircraft. The question is, what makes it a true Koenigsegg competitor? Let’s take a closer look… Starting with the engine! While the Venom GT & F5 were both powered by the same twin-turbo V8, Hennessey instead opted to fit the Blackbird with an all-new, 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8. This produces between 800 and 850hp, with all of this power sent to the rear wheels only via a 6-speed manual! What’s more, it revs to 9000RPM (the highest-revving naturally-aspirated V8 on any road car), can hit 60mph in 2.5 seconds (about the same as the CC850), and it has a top speed of 220mph! When it comes to the design, the Blackbird is largely just made from carbon fibre, which means it only weighs in at 1,360kg. The sculpted doors mirror the shape of the SR-71, as does the sky glass roof, along with the rear stabilisers, which automatically deploy once you hit 71 mph. Speaking of the rear end, the Blackbird also comes with diamond-shaped, quad tailpipes, and the diamond shape is mirrored in the headlights as well. All-in, this long and low hypercar looks absolutely incredible! Step inside, and it feels like you’ve stepped back in time - there are no screens anywhere! The Blackbird comes with analogue dials and a built-in mount for your phone. It also has an old-fashioned key, as well as twin carbon fibre seats, and 4(!) cupholders. The swooping-style design reminds us of the Bugatti Tourbillon, and the overhead switches once again hark back to the SR-71. But of course, it doesn’t come cheap - the Blackbird costs from $2,500,000, and it’ll be limited to just 71 units. The question is, would you choose it over a Koenigsegg CC850? Let us know in the comments!
